This is a complete timeline for all major vampire characters in the history of this game (not necessarily canon to the series). It includes everything from the beginning of vampires until the start of the game (September 2001).

2 MYA - Lastera becomes the first vampire.

3999 BC - Enosch is born into a nomadic tribe in what will become the Balkans

3963 BC - Enosch loses his eyes in a hunting accident. He is exiled from the tribe and on the forth day of that exile, turned by a master vampire.

999 BC - Malekie is born.

959 BC - Malekie sells his soul for immortality, sacrificing the woman he loved in the process.

264 BC - After three millennia of moving through Europe, Enosch attempts to gain power by manipulating the Carthaginians at the start of the Punic Wars.

146 BC - At the end of the Third Punic War, during the destruction of Carthrage, Enosch is mystically bound by another vampire and left in stasis beneath the ruins of the city.

40 - Aurelia is turned in effort to sacrafice herself for her friend Slayer Caecilia only to end up killing Caecilia as a vampire. Aurelia goes on to hunt Slayers and collect their skulls.

1527 - Slayer Cassia Marsilka is killed and turned by Cyrus the Gladiator, a 1,300 year old vampire. She went on to build her skills as a vampire and went under a variety of different names including Callia, Calida, Caterina, Catalina, Christine, Catia and Celina.

1560 - Countess Elisabeth Bathory is born in Hungry.

1571 - Elisabeth Bathory discovers that she is betrothed to Franz Nadazdy. She has developed severe signs of mental illness including a love for inflicting pain on others.

1573 - Amet, later to become Nicodemus, is born in a village within the central Ottoman Empire.

1575 - Elisabeth Bathory is married to Franz Nadazdy who teaches her a variety of torture methods.

1585 - Elisabeth Bathory begins to fear for her fading looks, she has a servant girls throat slit and uses the blood to induce youth in herself. Believing that she has found the fountain of youth, Elisabeth begins order the slaughter of ever more girls until catching the attention of Vlad Tsepesh (Dracula). Within the year Dracula turns Elisabeth.

1600s

1601 - Amet is turned and begins his travels through Europe and Asia during the course of which he acquires the name Nicodemus.

Marcus Sectator is born in Spain.

1609 - Darla, a prostitute, is sired by the Master on her death bed in the Virginia Colonies.

1610 - Slayer Ildikó Gellért is killed in an Iron Maiden by Countess Elizabeth Bathory while trying to investigate the disappearance of many young girls from the castle.

1626 - While serving in the Spanish army, Marcus Sectator was turned by a ‘fallen' English soldier. He soon after kills his wife and family.

1635 - Future Slayer Tanya is born.

1650 - Slayer Tanya is Chosen.

1651 - Caprice Pizzonia is born in Italy.

1652 - Slayer Tanya is turned.

1670 - Slayer Carissa Avenhaus is Chosen. Vampire Marcus Sectator confronts her on the streets of Amsterdam. He loses against her, being staked in the right side of the chest, and retreats to further hone his skills. Together he and Darla capture, torture and study a Watcher.

1671 - While spying on commanders of the Spanish military Caprice is turned by Marcus Sectator.

1673 - Slayer Carissa Avenhaus is killed when vampire Marcus Sectator returns to Holland to finish what he started. Marcus leaves Darla's side and switches his attention from Slayer to Watchers.

1679 - Khalid is born in Istanbul.

1692 - Slayer Sarah Dinsdale is called in Salem, Massachusetts. She saves her town from a vampire named St. Just and then is burned at the stake as an accused witch.

1700s

1703 - Nicodemus returns to the Ottoman Empire during which time he turns his first childe Khalid.

1708 - By this time vampire Marcus Sectator has killed eighty Watchers. A Slayer in the States intervenes. Marcus kills her and her Watcher.

1721 - February 8th: Now married to Franklin Crowe, Michelle Crowe gives birth to her first son, Samuel Crowe.

July 12th: Franklin and Samuel Crowe are killed by a traveler named Malekie to which the family was providing food. Michelle is raped and turned, never to speak again.

1726 - Dominic is born.

1727 - Liam is born in Galway, Ireland.

1742 - Rose is born in Romania to a wealthy family.

1751 - Dominic is turned.

1753 - Liam meets Darla and is sired by her. Liam rises from the grave. His first kill is the cemetery's groundskeeper. Liam kills his family, friends and the rest of his village. He takes the name Angelus after his sister Kathy mistakes him for an Angel. He proceeds to leave a trail of terror through Ireland, South Wales and Northern England.

Nicodemus and Khalid part ways.

1760 - Rose's marriage is arranged to a noble man's son. August, Rose's entire family is killed by Angelus and Darla. Rose is raped and left for dead, but is unintentionally turned. Her soul remains intact through the turning. She soon flees Thurtsk and spends the next centuries building her fighting abilities for the eventual goal of slaying Angelus. Angelus meets Darla's sire, The Master. Angelus and Darla continue their bloody holiday throughout Europe.

1764 - Angelus and Darla kill the family of a vampire hunter Daniel Holtz's in York, England and turn his daughter Sarah.

1765 - Angelus and Darla are pursued by Holtz through Italy and into France where Holtz traps them in a barn. Darla escapes, leaving Angelus behind. Angelus later catches up with Darla in Vienna.

1767 - Angelus and Darla visit Marseilles, France with young vampires James and Elizabeth. Holtz again catches up with Angelus.

1769 - Angelus and Darla lose Holtz somewhere in North Africa before heading to Morocco.

1771 - Holtz catches Angelus in Rome. Darla rescues Angelus and Holtz is released.

1773 - Holtz stops chasing Darla and Angelus after making a pact with the demon Sahjan.

1786 - Angelus sires a Puritan named Penn.

1789 - Angelus first encounters ‘The Beast' on his way to Vienna. 

During the French Revolution Slayer Marie-Christine Du Lac is fighting for the rich people of France while her Watcher is seeking the Vampire L'Hero. Edmund is captured by an angry mob fueled by L'Hero and Marie finds him as he is being beheaded by the town's people. His dying words to her are, "Do you see how miserably you have failed in your duty?" After his death she begins actively working as a Slayer, but is soon killed by Marcus Sectator under the false Watcher persona of Mark Hunter.

1792 - Caleb Christopherson is born in England.

1799 - Vampire Marcus Sectator arrives in France to hunt Slayer Claudine. He succeeds in draining his fifth Slayer.

1800s

1814 - Nicodemus sires his second childe Caleb Christopherson in England

1815 - Vampire Marcus Sectator leaves France.

1817 - November 2: Nefaria is born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

1834 - In London Nefaria meets the current Slayer Ariana, to which her father is the Watcher.

1838 - The Slayer Ariana is killed several days before her 19th birthday.

Angelus spends Christmas playing cards in Dublin, Ireland. He kills a man named Daniel who was to be married the same week.

1842 - March 17th: Nefaria meets Darius.

July 11th: Nefaria becomes engaged to Darius.

August 9: Nefaria is killed by Dominic in Paris, France the day before her wedding

1845 - Angelus visits a little town outside of Tuscany and meets a vampire named Rosaria.

1848 - Rose arrives in the Japan Islands and begins martial arts sword training there.

1850 - Rose is nearly killed in a fight in Yokohama and comes to trust the owners of a local Kendo dojo. She began training under Houjii.

1852 - William Edwards, later to become Spike, is born in London.

1854 - Angelus meets the French poet Baudelaire who writes about him in Le Vampyr. He also meets Monet.

1856 - Angelus is captured by police in London for the murder of a little girl. He kills the guard and escapes.

1857 - Slayer Angela Martignetti is Chosen in Venice, Italy under Watcher Peter Toscano who becomes her lover after his previous involvement, the Slayer's sister, is killed by the vampire Veronique. He is subsequently killed by the Council and she is assigned a new Watcher, Jason Cromwell.

1857 - Danica is born in England to an English father and Turkish mother both of whom are servants. A new owner, Caleb Christopherson soon takes interest in the young Danica.

1860 - Angelus meets Drusilla in London, England. He kills her family, drives her insane and turns her on the same night she takes her vows as a nun.

1862 - Slayer Angela Martignetti traps the essence of the immortal vampire Veronique on a deserted island.

1880 - Drusilla meets William in London after he is scorned by a vengeance demon named Halfrek, under the guise of Cecily, a noblewoman he admires. William is sired by Drusilla.

William turns his mother, who is dying of tuberculosis, into a vampire, but later stakes her.

After Darla is called back to the Master's Court, a newly turned William meets Angelus for the first time at the Royal London Hotel.

In Yorkshire William changes his name to Spike. He also learns what a Slayer is, after trapping the gang in a mineshaft, and nearly being staked by Angelus.

1883 - Back in London, Angelus eats a maid at a party then goes to her home and eats her son, who is home alone.

1886 - Lyle and Tector Gorch kill everyone in a small town.

1887 - Danica approaches Nicodemus and asks him to sire her. Caleb Christopherson overthrows Nicodemus's command in a brutal fight andDanica losses desire for revenge against Caleb.

1890 - Angelus sees the ballet Giselle.

Danica and Nicodemus part on good terms. Danica moves to America.

1891 - Slayer Naayee Neizghani is hunted by the vampire To after To kills her Watcher.

1892 - Angelus, Spike and Drusilla visit Vienna. Angelus sires Catherine.

Caleb Christopherson arrives in the States.

1893 - Houjii dies and his son Ryka takes up Rose's training. The two become romantically involved.

1894 - Angelus, Darla, Dru and Spike visit Rome. While there Darla and Drusilla indulge in a night of passion with the Immortal while Angelus and Spike are strung up in chains.

1895 - Neville Druitt is born in England.

1897 - Angelus and Darla take a trip to Budapest and do considerable damage to a town already reeling from the effects of an earthquake. Spike meets Dracula and comes out of the meeting eleven pounds poorer.

1897 - Slayer Grace of Yorkshire Mores, England is Chosen and soon after killed by Aurelia - the same vampire who had killed Slayer Caecilia Metella in 40 AD. Aurelia proceeds to drink Grace's blood from goblets.

In London, England Slayer Angelique Hawthorne is Chosen under Watcher Peter Van Helsing, cousin to Professor Abraham Van Helsing. She fights Dracula with her friends, lover Gordon Mycroft, a street kid named Patch and ex nun named Molly Carrington who is later killed – an incidence that caused Angelique to abandon her friends in order to keep them safe.

1898 - In Romania, Darla presents Angelus with a gypsy girl for his birthday. Her tribe takes their revenge by cursing Angelus with a soul. Angelus deserts Darla, Drusilla and Spike.

1900s

1900 - Angelus returns to the Darla, Drusilla and Spike, but still cannot feed on innocent humans, due to the effects of his soul.

June 18th: In Beijing, China during the Boxer rebellion, Slayer Xin Rong is killed by the vampire Spike.

After saving a missionary's child from Darla, Angel again leaves his 'family'.

1902 - Angelus takes a boat to New York.

1904 - Alexandria Carr is born in London

1910s

1910 - Future Slayer Su-Li Kim is born in Korea.

Rose leaves Japan and begins following Angelus's trail through Europe and the States.

1911 - Slayer Millicent "Millie" Rose Gresham also known as Fatima Araby (her show name) is Chosen under Watcher Ambrose Richmond. On her eighteenth birthday she is set up in a funhouse at the sideshow she works at with her Watcher. The vampire Blasko (a former Watcher) interferes and Ambrose is killed along with the reviewing Council members and the vampire Millicent was supposed to face. In the end Millicent outsmarts Blasko.

1912 - Kurt Raeder is born in Germany.

1914 - September: Neville Druitt joins the Field Artillery.

Alexandria's Carr brothers dies fighting the German army.

1915 - November: Neville Druitt loses his mind after a year on the frontline of the battlefield.

Maxwell St. Germaine is born.

1919 - Future Watcher Aleksei Borislav is born the son of two Watchers in the U.S.S.R.

1920s

1920 - Angel saves a puppy in Chicago.

Neville Druitt is turned.

Angel fights a demon named Boone over a senorita in Juarez.

1921 - After many centuries buried beneath the sands, Enosch is mysteriously awaken in Tunisia and begins his acclimation to the new times.

1922 - With the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Nicodemus travels to what then becomes Turkey for the last time, during the course of which visit he again encounters Khalid. The two remain in contact.

1923 - November 8th: Slayer Britta Kessler Lichtermann is called under the Watcher Herr Friedrich and betrayed by him within a day. She is turned by the vampire Herr Sahr and placed into her family's mausoleum where Herr Friedrich goes to make sure that she doesn't rise. He is locked in by Herr Sahr and fights his now vampiric Slayer.

1924 - Alexandria Carr is turned.

Lola is born.

1925 - Aleksei Borislav's family is living in London and Aleksei is already showing interest in the Council's library.

1929 - Penn visits Los Angeles, California and goes on a killing spree.

1930s

1930 - Angel visits Missoula, Montana.

1933 - Spike and Drusilla attend the World's Fair in Chicago, are attacked by the relatives of Xin Rong. They fight a demon summoned through a power generator.

1935 - Delilah is born.

1937 - Aleksei Borislav is inducted into the Watcher's Council.

The Master and his order go on a killing spree in Sunnydale and attempt to open the Hellmouth. Half the city is swallowed in an earthquake and the Master is trapped in a church.

1940s

1940 - In a deal with the demon Skrymir, vampires Spike and Drusilla break into the Council's headquarters and steal the list of all the Potential Slayers and their locations.

Kurt Raeder is turned by Spike.

May 22nd: Potential Slayer Kate Hutchins and her Watcher are killed by Spike and Drusilla in Liverpool England.

June 2nd: Potential Slayer Collette Boisvert and her Watcher Monsieur Arno are killed by Spike and Drusilla in Nice, France. Monsieur Arno is turned.

June 12th: Spike and Drusilla hang Alessandra Cavallaro on the doors of St. Mark's Cathedral by railroad spikes through her hands and feet.

June 16th: Potential Slayer Marya Badjek of Poland is killed by Spike and Drusilla. Her Watcher, Jozeff Strakus, is also beaten by the vampires, but survives.

June 22nd: A Potential Slayer from Benghazi, Libya is drained by Spike and Drusilla. Her Egyptian Watcher is staked naked to the ground in the dessert and left to die.

July 6th: The parents of Italian American Potential Slayer, Rita Gnecco, are killed by Spike and Drusilla in Boston, Massachusetts. The vampires then turn her Watcher Arthur Cabot who soon hunts down and kills Rita.

August 15th: Potential Slayer Valerie Vourtas and her Watcher Donald Morgan are killed in Mykonoa, Greece by Spike and Drusilla.

Watcher Edgar Somers, mentor and love interest of Watcher and seer Yanna Narvik, is killed by Spike outside of Yanna's house. Spike lets Yanna live and she and her Slayer Sophie vow to stop Spike and Drusilla.

September 3rd: Potential Slayer Ilse Skovgaard, a ballet dancer in Copenhagen, is killed by Spike and Drusilla.

Potential Slayers Beatrice Lizotte Nova Scotia and an unknown girl from Hong Kong are also killed by Spike and Drusilla.

Watcher and seer Yanna Narvik is killed after being tortured and driven insane by her visions of Spike.

September 7th: Spike and Drusilla breach the security of Council Headquarters during a crippling German air strikes to the complex.

Slayer Sophie Carstensen is killed by Spike.

Isabel Cortes from Barcelona, Spain is Chosen and within four minutes killed at the hands of the demon Srymir.

Eleanor Boundreau of LaFayette, Louisiana is Chosen under Watcher Betram Martin. Along with Sophie's friend Potential Ariana de la Croix of Geneva, Switzerland the girls defeat Skrymir.

Eleanor's Watcher steps down and asks Council director Watcher Marie-Christine Fontaine (daughter of Jacques Fontaine) to be the Slayer's Watcher. Potential Ariana de la Croix who was training under Watcher Charles Rochemont is asked to become a Watcher under Watcher trainee John Travers, father of Quentin Travers .

November 11th: Aleksei Borislav is assigned a Potential in his home country. He relocates back to the U.S.S.R. to train her.

1941 - While the Council is still rebuilding vampires Drusilla, Kurt and Spike make another attempt on it and the Potentials, which by the end of the year is prevented by Angel under the guise of Angelus.

Max is sired by Penn in Boston.

1943 - Spike is captured by the Nazis in Madrid. He and Angel, who is brought in from New York by the US Government, end up on a German submarine in hostile territory. While on the ship Angel sires a sailor named Sam Lawson.

Lola, a prostitue in Boston, is turned by Maxwell St. Germaine. Along with Penn, Max and Lola go on a killing spree torturing families and eating their infants and toddlers in front of them, forcing them to watch.

1943 - Slayer Elizabeth “Betty” Winters is Chosen under Watcher and bookstore owner, Marcus Redmond. Elizabeth works as a private investigator in a business she inherited from her husband, Robert Winters after he died oversees in the war. Elizabeth is killed by an ancient vampire named Hunyadi within the year.

1945 - April 24th: Watcher Aleksei Borislav is turned and his Potential killed by a vampire group sent after them by Stalin

1946 - Angel visits Las Vegas,Nevada and plays tennis with Bugsy Segal.

1950s

1952 - Angel, now living in the Hyperion Hotel, room 217, tries to stop a Thesulac demon and ends up getting hung by an angry mob.

1953 – Rose encounters Boone in Juarez, defeats him and is told by him that Angelus was killed by a mob at the Hyperion hotel in Los Angeles. Upon her arrival at the Hyperion she finds it deserted aside from a Thesulac demon. Her trail goes cold and she spends the next twenty or so years searching across America for further clues.

1958 - Nefaria meets Spike and shortly afterwards escapes from Dominic.

1960 - Delilah is turned by Maxwell St. Germaine.

1961 - Slayer turned vampire Cassia Marsilka fights and wins against Angel.

1962 - Nefaria settles back into New Orleans.

1963 - Spike kills orphans in Vienna and also kills two members of the Watchers' Council.

Angel meets the Rat Pack and gives advice to Sammy Davis Jr.

1963 - Penn visits Los Angeles again and goes on another killing spree.

1965 - After decades of wandering around Europe, Neville Druitt arrives in the States.

1967 - Angel crashes Elvis and Priscilla's wedding reception in Las Vegas.

1969 - Angel sees the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid at the Ziegfeld theatre in New York.

Spike attends the Woodstock festival.

1970s

1976 - Rose picks up the trail for Angelus in New York, encounters Nikki Woods and allies herself with the Slayer.

1977 - Spike kills his third Slayer, Nikki Woods. Rose tracks Spike and they battle on a train in Baltimore. Both escape.

Henry Williams, who by this time is going by the name Uppyr, is turned by Khalid.

1979 - Nicolae is born.

Nicodemus meets Uppyr for the first time. The younger vampire causes a rift between Khalid and Nicodemus that ends in Nicodemus vowing to destroy Uppyr.

1980 - Uppyr arrives in New York.

Harmony Kendall is born in Sunnydale.

1981 - Hamlin Rogers born in Sunnydale.

Tammy Roaf is born.

1983 - Future Slayer Alasen Elisabeth Montgomery is born.

Slayer Peri Bohr moves to Keller, Nebraska and is Chosen under Watcher Mr. McClellan. Her Cruciamentum was in the local mall against a recently turned vampire and former friend, Julie.

1990s

1991 - With the fall of the Soviet Union, Aleksei Borislav flees the crumbling U.S.S.R. and from the States begins networking with the growing Russian Mafia, conspiring to turn America into a communist empire.

1992 - The vampire who Darla would later approach in an attempt to get herself sired, is sired himself.

1994 - Nefaria grows board of New Orleans and travels to London where she meets Erika. Nefaria's soul is restored via a spell.

1996 - Angel meets Whistler, a balancing demon, in New York. Whistler takes Angel to Los Angeles, California where he sees the new Slayer, Buffy Summers.

Rose's hunt leads her to a demon named Whistler, she interrogates Whistler regarding Angelus's whereabouts. Never revealing the information, Whistler dies at Rose's hands.

1997 - Drusilla is beaten by an angry mob in Prague.

Slayer turned vampire, Yuki Makumura, travels to California and attempts to kill the current Slayer, Buffy Summers. Yuki, is killed by Buffy after attempting a ritual to resurrect the Master.

April 14th: Angel stakes Darla, at the Bronze.

September 29th: Drusilla and Spike arrive in Sunnydale, California. They join with the Anointed One, encounter the Slayer Buffy Summers and her friends for the first time, ultimately ruining the planned events for the night of St. Vigious. In response to the suggestion that he should be repentant, Spike kills the Anointed One.

November 7th: Spike sires Billy Fordham, Buffy's 5th grade crush. Buffy kills him the second he rises.

November 17th: Spike kidnaps Angel for Drusilla.

November 24th: Spike uses Angel for a ritual to restore Drusilla's strength. Buffy drops a pipe organ on them both. Drusilla and Spike, now in a wheelchair, spend the Christmas holiday collecting pieces of the Judge.

1998 - January 19th: Angel loses his soul to Buffy on her birthday, reverting to Angelus.

January 20th: Angelus joins Spike, Drusilla and the Judge.

January 27th: Angelus sires Theresa, Buffy's friend from school. Xander later stakes her.

February 24th: Angelus kills Jenny Calendar.

February 25th: Angelus, Spike and Drusilla move into the Crawford Street Mansion.

March 16th: Alexandria is unintentionally ensouled via a Watcher's talisman.

May 12th: Angelus tries to bring forth the demon Acathla. The Slayer Kendra is killed by Drusilla.

May 19th: Angelus tortures Giles and Spike allies himself with Buffy to stop Angelus from ending the world.

May 20th: Willow restores Angel's soul shortly after he releases Acathla. Buffy kills Angel to close the portal. Spike and Drusilla leave Sunnydale.

Drusilla and Spike go to South America, where Drusilla leaves Spike for a chaos demon.

October 13th: Angel arrives back to Sunnydale after centuries in hell.

November 24th: Spike returns to Sunnydale and kidnaps Willow to try to force her to do a spell to get him Drusilla back.

December 15th: Angel is visited by the First.

1999 - Erika is killed by Buffy Summers and Neferia meets Nicolae.

May 11th: Angel breaks up with Buffy. He soon leaves Sunnydale Los Angeles.

Harmony Kendall is turned during the Mayor's ascension.

October 5th: Angel meets Doyle, a Bracken demon with visions granted by the Powers that Be. He also meets up with Cordelia and the three begin work together. Angel also meets Lindsey McDonald, beginning his involvement with W&H.

October 19th: Spike finds the Gem of Amarra and promptly loses it to Buffy who gives it to Angel. Spike then goes to Los Angeles in search of the ring and has Angel tortured by a vampire named Marcus.

November 9th: Spike is captured the Initiative and implanted with a chip that renders him helpless against humans.

November 16th: Spike escapes from the Initiative.

November 23rd: After being kicked out by Harmony and under the belief that he can't defend himself, Spike goes to Buffy and the other Scobbies for help.

2000 - January 18th: Penn arrives in Los Angeles and is killed by Kate Lockley.

Slayer Buffy Summers slays Slayer turned vampire Cassia Marsilka.

May 9th: Angel briefly visits Sunnydale.  Rose arrives shortly after to discover Angelus's connection to the current Slayer.

Tammy Roaf is turned.

May 23rd: Darla is brought back to life, as a human, by Wolfram & Hart. She is dying of Syphilis that she had contracted before her original death.

November 28th: Drusilla sires Darla.

December 19th: Darla rises, cuts a bloody swath through Los Angeles and kills a room full of lawyers at Holland Manner's home, with help from Drusilla. Angel fires Wesley, Cordelia and Gunn after having locked the lawyers in the wine cellar with Darla and Drusilla.

2001 - January 16th: Angel sets Darla & Drusilla on fire.

February 20th: Angel and Darla have sex resulting not this time in the loss of Angel's soul, but in Darla's pregnancy with Connor.

August 25th: Darla goes to Puerto Cabazas, Nicaragua looking for a shaman who verifies her pregnancy.

August 28th: Slayer Buffy Summers is resurrected by her sister Dawn and the vampire Spike.

September 1st: Darla visits the Yoro Mountains in Honduras to visit a shaman.
